WOODSTOCK - A Woodstock woman has passed the halfway point in her trek to race across America.
Farah Foster Manning is part of Team One Mile in the RAAM race consisting of 3000 miles starting in Ocean California and cycling all the way to Annapolis Maryland.
They started this 7 day journey on Saturday in California. Foster-Manning is one of 2 Canadians taking part in this grueling race across America.
At last check, Foster Manning and her Team One Mile passed through Fort Scott, Kansas and entered Missouri. They reached the halfway mark in their journey on Tuesday.
Speaking with Heart FM before the race Foster Manning says they are doing this ride to support veterans suffering from PTSD and the charity organization known as Operation Second Chance.
"This is to help the veterans struggling with PTSD and just living at this point. Every single day, 22 veterans take their life, that is my purpose for racing across America with this amazing, amazing team."
Team one mile consists of 8 members and they are doing the 3,000 mile journey as a relay, with each team member taking their turn on the bike. Foster-Manning is the only member of her team who is not a veteran. She notes working with this team and preparing for this race has inspired her.
