The Steering committee will present its sustainability report to Oxford County on June 24th
The Future Oxford Steering Committee is putting the final touches on the sustainability report they will be delivering to all of the municipalities in Oxford County.
CAO of Oxford County Peter Crockett tells Heart FM the sustainability committee is all about having a clear plan for Oxford to follow in regards to the future of the economy, community, and the environment. Crocket says, "We think it's important because it is about what do we need now and how do we get what we need now without sacrificing the future - the future from the county standpoint and our future generations."
Crockett says one thing that makes this unique is this is not a government mandated committee - the steering committee is made up of residents from each region of Oxford who have a passion for the county and its sustainable future. Crockett says the committee has taken public feedback from the vision 2030 and the wiki-draft that was out for comment to help them put forward a final draft. Another big element in the report will be renewable energy and looking at the possibility of becoming 100% reliable on renewable energy in Oxford County. The Steering committee will present its sustainability report to Oxford County on June 24th and will take the draft to all of the municipal partners throughout the summer.
