The Mortgage Centre in Woodstock have chosen Andrew's Legacy as their charity of choice this year.
WOODSTOCK - The Mortgage Centre in Woodstock is teaming up with Andrew's Legacy.
Principal Broker and CEO Julie Brenneman says they will donate $50 to the charity from each mortgage they close this year.
"So every year we choose a charity that we want to support and this year we have chosen Andrew's Legacy, so every mortgage that we close, we will be donating $50 to Andrew's Legacy."
Brenneman says they hope they can match or even exceed the donations they made last year.
"Last year we did toys for Operation Sharing and we were able to give away 128 toys to their Christmas giveaway that they have."
The goal of Andrew’s Legacy is to raise funds in order to have every school, soccer field, baseball diamond and community centre in the Thames Valley District School Board area to be equipped with a defibrillator, or AED. Each unit costs approximately 2 thousand dollars.
At the age of 15, Thorndale native Andrew Stoddart was a star athlete, playing sports like football, track and field and of course soccer. On May 11th, 2015 Andrew was playing soccer in Kintore, Ontario, when he collapsed without warning. Parents and bystanders attempted CPR until the fire department arrived with the defibrillator, however, it was too late for Andrew.
