The 13th annual Gord Marshall Memorial Tournament raised $7,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association of Oxford.
The Innerkip Umpires Association has presented the local Canadian Mental Health Association with a $7,000 cheque. The donated money was raised at their annual Gord Marshall Memorial Tournament, which took place in early July.
Media Relations Coordinator Kyle Smith says the tournament has raised funds for the CMHA in the past, after two families in the small town were impacted by Mental Health.
"We did it last year and then again this year being fresh in the neighbourhood and the community. It's something that needs to brought aware of and not saying that other charities don't deserve the money they do, but when it hits close to home it make's it a little easier for picking a charity."
Mike McMahon is the Executive Director of CMHA Oxford. He says all of the funds people donate directly benefit the community.
"In Oxford County, our community contributions provide walk in counselling everyday of the week except Sunday on a walk in basis when you need it."
The 13th annual fastball tournament had 28 teams participate this year.
