Ladies fastball teams from across the province are gathering in Innerkip this weekend; for the 15th annual Gord Marshall Memorial Tournament.
INNERKIP - The 15th annual Gord Marshall Memorial Tournament got underway last night in Innerkip.
Media Relations Coordinator Kyle Smith says the ladies fastball tournament will have feature teams from far and wide this weekend.
"As far away as Etobicoke, Brampton and up towards the lake towards Owen Sound and then down as far as Chatham area, Wyoming was scheduled to come and then we're even a little bit further down more south. A real big swath across the area and then even just local teams in the Woodstock and surrounding areas."
The four day event will also include a beer tent and a silent auction with lots of items up for grabs. All of the proceeds raised this year will benefit Sakura House.
The first pitch was thrown last night at 6:30 p.m. Things will get started at the same time tonight but it will switch to an all day event tomorrow and on Sunday.
Smith tells us about the tournament's namesake.
"Gord Marshall was a local farmer, friend, family member and a local umpire back in the day and unfortunately he passed away to cancer much too young."
