Residents in East Zorra Tavistock can now hunt on Sundays.
EAST-ZORRA TAVISTOCK - Sunday Gun Hunting is now legal in East Zorra Tavistock.
Council made the decision at their meeting last week. Mayor Don McKay says they had around 70 people show up to the meeting to show their support for Sunday Gun Hunting.
"Most of the discussion at the meeting was from members of the Anglers and Hunters, we did receive several emails and phone calls from concerned citizens who wanted us to leave things along and not to change. It was a very orderly discussion and there is a lot of room for education and better practice on those hunting, so that they respect landowners and no trespassing, ensure visibility and safety were some of the concerns raised."
McKay says they will start getting the message out to residents right away.
"We will try to give notice to citizens of that decision, so they are aware that there is a change."
Hunters will still have to follow all of the rules and regulations set out by the Ontario Government for Hunting.
In Oxford County, Sunday gun hunting is allowed in the Townships of Blandford-Blenheim, Norwich and South-West Oxford.
