The Half Load Truck season starts today in Zorra Township.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Half Load season has started in Zorra Township.
Half Load season means that transport trucks can only carry no more than 5 tonnes per axle with a few exceptions. Two axle Feed trucks and cattle trucks are allowed 7 and 1/2 tonne per axle. There is complete exemptions for emergency vehicles for emergency vehicle's like hydro trucks, milk trucks and road service trucks.
Constable Henk Ruitenbeek explains why this law is in effect.
"It causes a lot of damage to the road, which causes a lot of collisions."
Director of Public Works for Zorra Township Aden Corcoran says half load season in Zorra Township starts on February 15th.
"Half load season is in place to protect the structural integrity of roads when frost comes out of the ground every Spring. In Zorra Township our half load season starts on February 15th, where most surrounding municipalities start on March 1st, all end on April 30th."
Believe it or not, spring IS around the corner. Effective today in @ZorraTwp until April 30th, heavy trucks are subject to load restrictions to help prevent damage to our roads during the thaw. PC Henk Ruitenbeek of @OPP_HSD tells us more. ^lb pic.twitter.com/dZTFjvhhts
