Local MPP Ernie Hardeman joined Heart FM to urge the community to follow public health guidelines and stay home during the lockdown.
OXFORD COUNTY - The MPP for Oxford County is urging everyone to hunker down and follow the rules during the lockdown.
Ernie Hardeman is asking everyone to celebrate Christmas with family in your home and avoid the large gatherings.
"We have to be very careful to follow the guidelines to keep away from opportunities of spread. If we spend Christmas and celebrate with our family, those that we live with, I think we will be fine. If we have the public gatherings, if we have the large groups getting together, that is where the outbreaks come from."
Hardeman says he is concerned about the latest data from Southwestern Public Health.
"In Oxford, in the last number of weeks, we have had a dramatic spike. The virus moves and once it expands into a certain area, if we don't do something, it will keep doing that. I think we have to be very careful and follow all of the protocols.
