Josh Gomer with Goodlife Fitness has a few tips for those looking to stay healthy this COVID-19 holiday season.
OXFORD COUNTY - With the ongoing pandemic and the upcoming lockdown, it's going to be a memorable holiday season for sure.
Some people might be worried about gaining a bit of weight over the next few weeks, but Josh Gomer with Goodlife Fitness says you can still enjoy your holiday favourites in moderation.
"When you eat that sugar cookie or you eat that piece of pie, you can still technically fit that into your day and it doesn't mean 'oh no I totally messed my day up so I'm going to eat whatever I want today and start again tomorrow.' That's the biggest common pitfall that people fall into."
He says 2020 has been a tough year for everyone in Oxford County and beyond, and even the simplest physical activities can boost not only your physical health, but also your mental health.
With the upcoming lockdown, Gomer says a lot of parents are already trying to think of ways they can keep their kids physically active while they're self-isolating at home.
"A common a thing a couple of the personal trainers do that I know that have kids is if they want a certain amount of screen time on an iPad or another screen they need to earn it through physical activity time."
He says giving your kids chores and encouraging them to play outside in the snow can help.
