Heart FM to Highlight Indigenous Voices Through National Day to Listen

Heart FM will be one of several radio stations across Canada taking part in the Day to Listen tomorrow, broadcasting interviews and stories from Indigenous leaders throughout the day.

CANADA - Radio stations across the country, including us here at 104.7 Heart FM will be taking part in the Day to Listen tomorrow.

This is done in partnership with the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund.

With the recent announcement of 751 unmarked graves in Saskatchewan and as the growing numbers from former residential school sites emerge, we often don't know how we can help.

Dr. Alika Lafontaine is an award-winning physician, speaker, alignment consultant, and the first Indigenous physician listed by the Medical Post as one of Canada’s 50 Most Powerful Doctors.

He says the Day to Listen is designed to amplify Indigenous voices in Canada.

"A Day to Listen is an opportunity for Canadians to step back and create spaces for voices that often don't get heard, in the way that they need to."

You can expect to hear interviews and stories throughout the day from Indigenous leaders on our radio station on Wednesday June 30th. You can learn more and listen to all of the interviews uncensored on the Downie Wenjack website here.

The Government of Canada is also providing educational resources for the month of June, which is also National Indigenous History Month. You can access those resources online here.
