After making the switch from country music to music from the 60s, 70s and 80s, audiences can now listen to artists like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
WOODSTOCK - Heart FM's HD Radio channel is offering music from the 70s, 80s and more.
The channel originally played country music before making the switch this year.
Program Director Dan Henry says they didn't see the traction with the country format, so they wanted to try something different.
"HD Radio is something that goes out with our conventional signal and if you have an HD radio you can pick up a digital signal. So it's a higher quality of sound and if you have an HD radio you'll notice that while you're listening to Heart FM, as the HD settles in it'll take a couple of seconds, you'll hear it kind of open up and sound really wide."
He adds it also offers secondary channels so you can add up to four sub channels. He says Heart FM currently has two sub channels.
Henry says the channel offers listeners a chance to hear different formats.
"We had country on it before and I think country is well-served in the conventional radio market, this is a format that isn't really served well in our region on conventional radio. So it's an opportunity for people who want to listen to Heart FM that would like to hear some older music every once and a while can switch over, and then when they want news and information they can come back to Heart FM and hear the world's best music from the last 30 years and then they can go back and catch some older music as well."
Listeners can hear music from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys and more.
Heart FM was the first station to offer a sub channel with its HD programming.
He adds you can listen to it by turning your radio dial to the right, if you own an HD radio, or stream it on our website.
