Heat Warning Issued for This Weekend

Environment Canada says daytime highs this weekend will reach the low to mid 30's, however with the humidity it's going to feel like 40 degrees outside.

SOUTHWESTERN ONTARIO - A heat warning has been issued for Southwestern Ontario, which includes Oxford County.

A hot and increasingly humid air mas is going to move in on Saturday and is expected to last until at least Sunday. Slightly cooler and less humid conditions may arrive on Monday.

Daytime high temperatures are expected to be between 31 and 34 degrees with the humidity making it feel like 40.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. When it's hot eat cool, light meals.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.

You can find a list of cooling centres from Southwestern Public Health online here.
