All of the money will be going to VON Sakura House, the only 10-bed residential hospice in Oxford County.
WOODSTOCK - That's $154,119.72 raised for VON Sakura House.
The hospice shared the final fundraising total from the Hike for Hospice on social media on Friday. It said it was one of the most successful Hike for Hospice events in 22 years, and it thanked everyone for their support.
A total of 363 hikers and their 47 teams participated in the hike in Roth Park in Woodstock on Saturday September 21st.
Sakura House is the only 10-bed residential hospice in Oxford County. It receives government funding for its doctors, nurses, and other general healthcare costs, but everything else is funded by donations from the public.
Over 100 people volunteer at Sakura House to help make sure guests are comfortable during their stay and to help their family members during their final days with their loved ones.
A total of 276 patients stayed at the facility last year alone.
