The Grand River Conservation Authority is trying to wipe out any doubt, Hockeyfest is cancelled for this weekend. The 3-day concert was to be held at the Brant Conservation Area, but organizers failed to have proper emergency plans in place. Police were not contacted for traffic control and security, and a last-minute fire safety plan didn't meet the Ontario Fire Code for an expected crowd of 20,000. For those who were planning on attending, the GRCA says campsites were booked through the organizer, and those who have booked sites should deal with Hockeyfest organizers. Major acts like Creed, Weezer and Marianas Trench were set to headline the festival.
