One of the biggest stars to ever come out of the Friendly City, Kayla James is hosting a virtual show Saturday November 14th for Theatre Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK - Everyone is invited to check out an amazing virtual concert this Saturday night featuring Woodstock's own Kayla James in support of Theatre Woodstock.

The Home Grown show starts at 7:30 pm and James says the show will feature some special guests as well.

"So we have Kate Grey and I will be singing a duet, and we have Kate Grey and I will be singing a duet and then we have Abby Grass, Megan Dallan, Teale Poirier, who I kind of look at like my little sisters, I watched them kind of grow up, Teal was in musicals I used to choreograph when I was in grade 7."

James has performed at some of the most prestigious theatrical institutions like the Shaw Festival, the Charlottetown Festival, and her personal dream, the Stratford Festival. She is one of the biggest stars to ever come out of Woodstock and has never forgotten her roots.

James says the pandemic has been very rough on live theatre and tough on her and her husband Dan who is a musical theatre writer, performer and director.

"When it first happened, I got 10 emails in 2 days of cancellations, just everything happened at once and I kind of couldn't process it. It was really tough for a couple of months and then we decided to take that energy and come up with a plan for something else we could do. I will always love performing, I will always want to be part of the arts community, I think it's where my gifts in this world lie."

Kayla and her husband have started a new company called Stream Stage Productions. They are live streaming events, small concerts and getting the arts community back in front of an audience, however they can.

Tickets for the show cost $22 for the entire family. You can purchase them online at www.theatrewoodstock.com and they will email you an exclusive link to the live stream. The live stream will be uploaded for 48 hours, so if for whatever reason you can't watch it on Saturday, you will have two days to watch it.
