Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board say home sales were up over 7 percent.

WOODSTOCK-INGERSOLL - According to the Woodstock-Ingersoll and District Real Estate Board, home sales were back up in the month of December.

58 units sold last month which is a 7.4 percent increase from the same time a year earlier and the average price of $244,139 was also up nearly 8 percent from December 2013.

The average price of a home in the region in 2014 was up $10,000 from 2013 at just over $240,000.

"Home sales were back up again in December following a dip in November" according to Board President William Cattle.  "For 2014 overall, the combination of a slow first quarter followed by a relatively healthy remainder of the year put the annual sales figure roughly in line with both its five and ten-year average.".

Annual home sales were 1138 in 201 is down 4.8 percent from 2013.

New listings were up 21 percent on a year-over-year basis to 75 units in December which according to Board's media release mainly reflects a sharp slowdown at the end of last year.

All residential property sales amounted to $14.2 million in December 2014, rising 15.8 percent from levels recorded a year earlier.

Sales of all property types numbered 59 units in December, edging down 1.7 percent from the same month in 2013.  The total value of app properties sold came in at $14.4 million which was an increase of 9.4 percent from December 2013.
