It looks like the former Harvey Woods building in Woodstock is slated for affordable housing. Heart FM has obtained a copy of a real estate listing, showing that the former hosiery factory has sold. And we have learned this afternoon, the buyer is Homestead Christian Care. They are an agency that builds affordable housing for people with mental illness, and provides cost-effective housing, along with programs to help them with their issues. The Harvey Woods Building has been sitting vacant since 1990, and was listed at a price of $1.25-million. It was a former hosiery factory, that employed hundreds at one time. We have yet to hear from Homestead officials about the purchase, however reports are indicating that the new owners have plans to convert the former factory into a 50-unit affordable housing complex.
