Crime Stoppers of Oxford is teaming up with Ingamo Homes and United Way Oxford for a Human Trafficking Information Session on Tuesday November 14th.
WOODSTOCK - A human trafficking information session is coming to Woodstock.
Crime Stoppers of Oxford in partnership with Ingamo Homes and United Way Oxford is putting on the event trying to educate residents of the issue through an Oxford lens.
Lynda Bartlett with Crime Stoppers of Oxford has the details.
"So, our event is going to happen on Tuesday, November 14th, downtown Woodstock at the Market Centre Theatre. It's going to be 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the evening, but the doors will open at 5:00 p.m."
Bartlett adds the community partners will be there early with information that you can look at.
Executive Director with United Way, Kelly Gilson says sex trafficking is not the only trafficking that takes place.
"We want to talk about some of these different aspects. Just to let people know what the reality is for our community here in Oxford. Again, just to raise awareness."
Gilson adds another form of human trafficking would be labour trafficking, where someone from another country is working for minimal wages, or the workplace holds on to their passport.
There is also going to be a guest speaker, who's name is Cassandra Diamond, and she is a survivor of Human Trafficking. There will also be a short film shown, by the title of Traffick on the 401.
There is no cost to attend the event.
