Kayson Stewart placed first in the boys bantam singles division at the YBC Provincials and now he's going to represent Southern Ontario at the YBC Nationals.
INGERSOLL - A 10-year-old bowler from Ingersoll will be representing Southern Ontario at the Youth Bowl Canada National Championships.
Kayson Stewart placed first in the boys bantam singles division at the YBC Provincials competition back in December. He was grinning from ear to ear when he realized he won.
"I was excited and I wanted to keep on bowling and try to be better than my brothers."
Kayson has two older brothers; 19-year-old Kalen and 14-year-old Kolton. They both bowl as well, and their mother Setina was actually at another bowling tournament with Kolton when she found out about Kayson's big win.
"We were following along on our phones with the coach and the family members with Kayson and I couldn't believe it! I was shocked and I am very excited for him to have this opportunity."
Kayson's coach Lynne Kilborne says Kayson threw over 1,000 in the five-game tournament which works out to about 200 average. This was a very big deal for Kayson, because his normal average was about 160 or 165.
A large red banner is now on display at Ingersoll Lanes to commemorate Kayson's big win at provincials.
The YBC National Championship will be taking place in Oshawa on July 10th and 11th.
