Ingersoll Could Be Home to Ontario's Top Small Museum

Time is running out to vote for the Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum in the Ontario's Choice Awards

Time is running out to vote for the Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum as Ontario's Top Small Museum.

The local museum is in the running for Top Small Museum, Art Gallery, or Historic Site in the Ontario's Choice Awards sponsored by Attractions Ontario. The Ingersoll museum is competing with other attractions like The Diefenbunker in Carp, Dundurn Castle in Hamilton, and the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Techonology.

Curator Scott Gillies says the Ingersoll based museum has seen an increase in the amount of visitors lately.

"We've actually doubled our group tour attendance for this time compared to last year. I would say a majority of people that come in are surprised by what they see, pleased and impressed."

Gillies adds people better cast their ballots as soon as possible.

"Voting will end on September the 6th and notification of the top three will be on September the 7th."

Follow these instructions if you would like to vote:

1) Go to the Attractions Ontario website
2) Click "Ontario's Choice Awards"
3) Select the "Top Small Museum/Art Gallery/Historic Site" category
4) Click on the museum you would like to vote for
5) Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Done"

People can also vote as many times as they want to for their favourite museum in the running.

Right now the Ingersoll Cheese and Agriculture Museum has an exhibit which highlights Oxford County's role supporting the First World War on the home front. The museum also features information about Ingersoll's history and has a very impressive wooden carving created by an Ingersoll resident years ago.
