The agenda for this Thursday's council meeting includes discussions around pickleball courts, Additional Residential Units, and cleaning up Southside Pond.
WOODSTOCK - Southside Pond is about to get a much-needed cleanup in Woodstock.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says City Council will award a contract worth $2,817,181.02 (including HST) to Greenspace Construction to do the work during this Thursday's meeting.
"It's going to be started in the fall, after Labour Day weekend is what the report says, and then finished up by the spring of next year."
The project will include dredging the pond and cleaning up the shoreline.
Mayor Acchione says council will also talk about adding some pickleball courts to Cowan Fields during this week's meeting.
"Staff are coming back with a report, and of course you can read it on the council agenda that will be released today, suggesting maybe not converting a couple of the locations that we talked about to a hybrid with tennis and pickleball."
He says there has been a little bit of animosity between the two groups already, so adding new pickleball courts will make a lot of people happy.
Thursday's City Council meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and it will be livestreamed on the City of Woodstock YouTube page. You can also find the meeting agenda online here.
During his interview with Dan and Marcie this morning, Mayor Acchione also discussed the following:
- Visiting his family in Orangeville over the weekend.
- Attending the Canada Day festivities in Southside Park this year, thanking TMMC for sponsoring the fireworks display.
- More discussions around Additional Residential Units.
- The current status of the housing project coming to the old Bethany Lutheran Church property.
- How he's unable to attend Streetfest this year because he's working with one of the pit crews at the Honda Indy in Toronto.
- and his thoughts on the Daily Debate. Would he ever change his eye colour if there was a way to safely do so?
