Woodstock City Council will discuss the current status of the boundary adjustment discussions with East Zorra-Tavistock during this Thursday's council meeting.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council could be reaching out to the Ford Government for assistance in the boundary readjustment discussions with East Zorra-Tavistock.
The City recently approached EZT on the matter, but Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione says the Township is not interested at this time.
"They wanted to complete their Secondary Planning so far, and they are expecting that to be 18 months give or take. That brings us past the halfway point of our council terms, so that's going to make it really tough to do any boundary negotiations and talk."
Acchione says that doesn't work for the Friendly City because Woodstock is required by the province to have a 25 year plan for intensification.
"Right now, with everything we have approved just in my term of council already we've got three planned subdivisions with over 3,000 units already planned. But that's only three to five years worth, so we are no where close to 25 years."
During this Thursday's meeting, council will consider a motion to submit a request to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to establish a commission for the boundary adjustment.
The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. and you can find the agenda online here. You can also livestream the meeting on the City of Woodstock YouTube page.
