Interview With Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock

Dr. Lock provided some insight into the tremendous spike our region has experienced over the past two weeks. She also talks about the new face covering order, enforcement and offers advice for parents with kids heading back to school in September.

OXFORD COUNTY - The Medical Officer of Health for Southwestern Public Health Dr. Joyce Lock joined Dan Henry and Chris McMillan for an exclusive interview today.

Dr. Lock provided some insight into the tremendous spike our region has experienced over the past two weeks in active COVID-19 cases. She also talks about the new face covering order, enforcement and offers advice for parents as we get set to send kids back to school in September.

You can listen to the interview below where Dr. Lock answers the following questions:

- We have had a tremendous spike in the last two weeks, yesterday, we accounted for over 10% of the new cases in the entire Province is there any one event or thing that ties it all together, there was talk of a funeral in Aylmer for example.

- It seems to be the smaller centres right now that are the hardest hit, are you worried about COVID fatigue setting in, especially in smaller centres.

- Some residents are still reluctant when it comes to wearing a face covering. What is your advice to store owners when it comes to patrons entering their store without a face mask and what would you advise concerned citizens to do or say?

- If someone is blatantly ignoring guidelines, not wearing a face mask or should be in quarantine, who should you call to report that and what is the penalty for non-compliance for not wearing a mask indoors.

- Who are exempt from wearing a face covering.

- What advice to do you have for parents as we get ready for back to school in September.
