Woodstock Mayor Jerry Acchione stopped by the Heart FM studio yesterday to talk about the upcoming City Council agenda and potential changes to the Woodstock Transit schedule.
WOODSTOCK - Changes could be on the horizon for the Woodstock Transit schedule.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says the City has seen some bus delays between the hours over the past few months.
"Between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., Woodstock Transit has reported a lot of traffic. Their goal is to hit within three minutes of every half hour, to be at their transit stops 95 percent of the time, but in the last six to 12 months it has been hit or miss with less than 95 percent."
He says City Council will look over a proposal with a potential solution to this issue during Thursday night's meeting.
"In order to make sure everybody can rely on the system and count on it, we're proposing going to a 40-minute cycle between the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. only, so the buses can slow down a bit, merge with traffic, and get there on a much more reliable time."
With council approval, the new transit times would take effect on March 6th, 2022.
The City Council meeting should begin at 7:00 p.m. this Thursday night and you can read the full agenda online here. You can also live stream the meeting on the City of Woodstock YouTube page.
Mayor Acchione stopped by the Heart FM studio on Monday to chat with Dan and Marcie about the upcoming meeting. He also talked about his holidays, his busy schedule, the World Juniors, and his thoughts on long movies. You can listen to the full interview below:
