Joint Police Investigation Underway in Woodstock, Tillsonburg, Straffordville and Elgin County

Police are asking people to stay away from James Street in Woodstock, Baldwin and Frances Street in Tillsonburg, Fourth Street in Straffordville and College Line in Elgin County this morning.

UPDATE: 10 people were arrested today in a massive drug bust across four communities this morning.

The joint investigation involved members of the Oxford OPP Street Crimes Unit and the Woodstock Police Drugs and Intelligence Unit. Other units involved include tactics and rescue unit, London organized crime bureau and K-9.

the Search warrants were executed today on James Street in Woodstock, Baldwin and Francis Street in Tillsonburg, Fourth Street in Straffordville and College Line in Elgin County.

Police have not released the names of the people charged. Oxford OPP Inspector Tony Hymers explains some of the items they seized.

"Among the items seized were various amounts of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, cannabis, prohibited weapons and one vehicle."

The value of the items seized is around $140,000. The charges range from simple possession to possession for the purpose of trafficking a possession of prohibited weapons.

OXFORD/ELGIN - You may notice a heavy police presence in some areas of Woodstock, Tillsonburg and Elgin County this morning.

The Oxford OPP is conducting a joint investigation with Woodstock Police.

They're asking people to stay away from James Street in Woodstock, Baldwin and Frances Street in Tillsonburg, Fourth Street in Straffordville and College Line in Elgin County.

Police say there's no threat to public safety and we'll update this story as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: A listener has informed us that there is no longer a police presence on Frances Street in Tillsonburg.

UPDATE 2: OPP say the investigation has concluded in Woodstock and Tillsonburg but police remain on scene in Straffordville and Elgin County.

UPDATE 3: OPP have cleared all areas in Woodstock, Tillsonburg, Stratffordville and Elgin County and the investigation remains ongoing.
