Kids Du is a non competitive run-bike-run for kids aged 3 to 13 with a focus on having fun.
WOODSTOCK - The Kids Du is back in Woodstock.
The multi-sport event is being put on by the Woodstock Triathlon Club, scheduled for next month.
Woodstock Triathlon member Terri Jenkin says the idea is to encourage kids to have fun and be active.
"The Kids Du is a non competitive run-bike-run for kids aged 3 to 13 with a focus on having fun. We want our kids to get outside, get active and be healthy and hopefully that leads to an overall active and healthy lifestyle in the future."
Jenkin says the race is age appropriate and it will take place at Southside Park.
"We have kids who are three years old running 150 metres and a 700 metre bike ride up to the 13 year-olds who are doing a one and a half kilometre run and a six kilometre bike ride. So it's all age appropriate, all within the Southside Park area."
She adds children between the ages of 3 to 5 years-old need to be accompanied by a parent.
She says participants will need to bring proper equipment with them.
"They need to have a bike in good, working order and a helmet that fits and a good pair of running shoes, and wearing a t-shirt. So no tank-tops, we want to keep them safe in the sun as well so they need to be covered in a t-shirt."
For children ages 3-5 years-old, tickets are $22.00 and a family of three or more will receive a discount of $20.00. And it is $32.00 for kids ranging from 6 to 13 years-old, along with a discount of $28.00 for a family of three or more.
Registration is open until June 5th. If you sign up before May 24th, you are guaranteed a t-shirt and a bib with your name printed on it.
The Kids Du is on June 9th from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
