Kittens Found Inside Of Trash Can

Five kittens were left for dead after being placed in a plastic bag and tossed into a trash can in St.Marys. Two kittens have survived. It's estimated the newborns were disposed of about 12 hours before being found.

ST.MARYS - A woman walking her dogs made a disturbing discovery of newborn kittens left for dead on Sunday.

The woman heard the small sound of meowing coming from a trash can around 1:30 p.m. at the St.Marys Cemetery.  In total, five kittens were found inside of a plastic bag that had been tied up.

The good samaritan took the kittens to the St Marys Veterinary Clinic for treatment.  As of right now, only two kittens have survived and have been placed in the care of the Town of St Marys.

An animal cruelty investigation has been opened and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday to contact them.  It's estimated the kittens were disposed of about 12 hours before being found.

The south end trash can of the cemetery just north of Section B is where the kittens were found.
