Land Sale Finalized at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show

Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman and President of the Farm Show Doug Wagner made the announcement this morning.

WOODSTOCK - The land sale of the Discovery Farm Woodstock, home of Canada's Outdoor Farm Show has been finalized.

Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman and President of the Farm Show Doug Wagner made the announcement this morning. Glacier Media, which is the parent company of Discovery farm acquired 100 acres of land for $3.5 million dollars. This deal ensures the farm show will remain in Woodstock for quite some time.

Hardeman says that Ontario is accelerating innovation in the agriculture sector with the completion of the sale of a portion of the Woodstock Agricultural Research Station, home of Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show.

"Ensuring that farmers will continue to have a place to learn about cutting-edge research and innovative solutions at the new Discovery Farm Woodstock is key to maintaining knowledge-transfer at the grassroots level. The sale of this property reinforces Ontario’s commitment to accelerating our agriculture sector through innovation, research and the adoption of new practices and technologies."

This deal had been in place since 2020 and was finalized today. Site plans at the location include:

- To be a year-round meeting place for farmers and industry for research and knowledge transfer.
- Growing Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, enhancing partnerships and developing a world class site for the transfer of agricultural knowledge and research.
- Discovery Farm Woodstock will also lease 145 acres of the Woodstock Research Station from the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario (AIRO) in 2022 to grow research and demonstration potential.

Wagner says this is a ground breaking moment for Canada's Outdoor Farm Show.

"This is a ground-breaking moment for Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show as we now have a permanent home at this hub of learning and demonstration that is Discovery Farm Woodstock. We're thankful to Ernie Hardeman for his efforts to make this a reality during his time as Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, as well as to Minister Lisa Thompson for her continued support."
