Update, 4pm, Friday afternoon: STRIKE NOT OVER.... UNION
Update 4pm, Friday:
A sudden change to earlier reports of the strike by LCBO workers being over.
The union representing 10,000 says a strike in which a tentative deal had been announced earlier today is in fact continuing because the employer has not signed a specific document.
The L-C-B-O had said that it reached an agreement with the union to end the two-week-long strike on Monday, if the deal was ratified.
Stores would then open on Tuesday.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union says the L-C-B-O has not signed a return-to-work protocol and without that, no deal.
Original Story:
A tentative deal has been reached to end the strike by LCBO workers.
No details have been released, but the workers' union said the dispute was largely on Premier Doug Ford's plan to let convenience and grocery stores sell ready-to-drink cocktails.
The L-C-B-O said that wasn't a matter for the bargaining table, and offered increases in wages, benefits and job security.
Stores will open on Tuesday if workers ratify the deal.
