NORWICH - Nobody was injured after a huge fire at a home in Norwich Township at the southeast corner of New Durham Line and County Road 14.
Three people were home when the fire started this morning at about 5 a.m. Fire crews credit a working smoke alarm with alerting the occupants who were able to escape safely. Director of Fire and Emergency Services for Norwich Township Paul Groeneveld tells Heart FM they think the fire was caused by the storm last night and say lightning was the most likely culprit.
Fire crews battled the blaze until about noon today and the home is a complete write off. Officials estimate the damage will be about $300,000.
