Crews will begin the installation of the new traffic lights at the intersection of Vansittart Avenue, Broadway Street, and Dundas Street this October.
WOODSTOCK - Traffic lights will be installed at the Vansittart Avenue and Broadway Street intersection in downtown Woodstock.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says this is long overdue.
"Well anybody that has been through that intersection knows it is extremely difficult and, dare I say, not the safest intersection. Especially making a left off of Van Ave to head east on Dundas Street."
This will cost the city $673,600.90 including HST and it was approved in the budget for 2023. Mayor Acchione signed all of the necessary paperwork for the project yesterday, so construction will begin the week of October 2nd.
"The City is doing its best to catch up on all the infrastructure that we're a little lagging behind and this is one of those examples, so we just need everyone to be a little patient while we make these changes. The short-term pain is certainly a long-term gain, and that goes for all of the construction going on right now."
The work should be done by mid-November.
