Little Caesars Pizza Sales to Support Huron Park Prom

Graduating students at Huron Park Secondary School are teaming up with the Woodstock Little Caesars for a prom fundraiser on Tuesday April 5th.

WOODSTOCK - Graduating Huron Park students are excited to be planning and attending an in-person prom this year.

The kids have been robbed of the normal high school experience thanks to COVID-19. They have had to deal with online learning, masks, social distancing and cohorts. Extra curriculars have been scaled back or cancelled and students have not gotten the traditional high school experience to say the least.

Grade 12 student Madeleine Sloan says she has been wanting to have a real prom since she was a little kid and she didn't think it was going to happen up until as recently as January.

"I think we are all excited. I am excited about the entire experience that I didn't think I was going to get to have; from going dress shopping, promposals, and to almost think that were not going to have it happen, but now to be planning it and seeing it all be real almost, it just kind of brings closure to the end of school, knowing that we are going to have one last moment together to celebrate our time in high school."

Student Bryn Smiley shares some of those emotions.

"It's just nice to experience the planning, the anticipation of prom, it's just nice to have that little bit of normalcy."

The plan is to have prom at Craigowan Golf and Country Club in June. Student Tina Tang finds the planning therapeutic.

"We finally announced the venue with all the students and everyone is really excited. We haven't had prom for two years because of COVID, it is just a really good experience to have and being able to plan it all, it's just a good experience."

Grade 12 student Aaliyah Pusey says she is looking forward to this event.

"A lot of our high school years were ripped from us because we had to deal with working from home, which was a very different experience and transitioning to online was difficult. When we did go back, class sizes were the same but everyone was split up and had to stay in the same cohort, we had to wear masks and physical distance, so with this prom, everyone can just relax, enjoy themselves and just have fun, finally."

Little Caesars in Woodstock is looking to help the Huron Park efforts with a fundraiser on Tuesday April 5th. Twenty-five percent of all orders will go towards the Huron Park committee if the customer states they want to support the prom.
