Local Business Women Honoured With Awards

Cindy Walker of Chocolatea in Ingersoll received the Ontario Self Employed Benefit Program Award.

Three local business owners were honoured with awards at the Oxford Small Business Support Centre's Annual General Meeting on June 8th.

OXFORD COUNTY - Awards have been given out to three local business women for all of the hard work they have done.

Cindy Walker owns Chocolatea, a shop in Ingersoll which sells lots of teas, herbal products and delicious chocolates. She was presented with the Ontario Self Employed Benefit Program Award.

Walker would like to thank the Oxford Small Business Support Centre for her recent success.

"I really need to thank everybody at the Oxford Small Business Support Centre because they were really valuable in all their coaching and any kind of encouragement that they gave me."

Another award recipient was 25 year old Charity Caudle of Woodstock. She is a registered massage therapist and has been honoured as this years Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Caudle tells Heart FM how the support centre has helped her in the past.

"They set me through a 24 hour business program to help do a business plan and they assessed it and everything, I went through for two grants. Then I was matched up with a mentor at the Women's Employment Centre who was really helpful just to bounce ideas off of and go through everything."

Johanna Brooks of The Cup and Cake in Tillsonburg was also honoured with the CFDC Access to Capital Loan Program Award. She was unable to attend the Oxford Small Business Support Centre's Annual General Meeting on June 8th, when the awards were officially handed out.
