Maggie is a small Yorkie who has been missing since June 25th. There have been 30 sightings of her in the City and she has been captured a few times on camera.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock has approved a request to a local family who has been missing their dog since June.
There have been over 30 sightings of Maggie, the missing Yorkie, in the City, she has even been caught on trail cameras at a storm pond. Laura Adlington says they installed cameras back in September.
"We were working with the UTRCA and they were supporting us putting trail cameras in areas of interest. We got pictures of her on trail cameras in a storm pond area and then through the course of making sure we had all of our ducks in a row and contacting everyone who may be involved in owning that property. The City told us we had to remove them. We have been working since September 4th, to get in front of City council to get them to allow us to put those camera's back, so we are just really hopeful, it is not, too little, too late."
Adlington says Maggie is a big part of her family.
"Maggie is my first fur baby and she is just the sweetest little girl. She is a big part of our family, I have a little girl who is 7 and so for my husband and her and myself, it has just been terrible having a family member who is missing. So it's not just the normal loss of a pet, where you can grieve, you don't know if she is ok, you don't know if she is deceased, we have had all of these sightings and we even captured photo's of her on camera."
Adlington says a number of people have almost caught Maggie, but if you see her, do not approach.
"You would typically think if she a lost dog, you should approach the dog, call their name, stay at your normal height and those are all things that if a dog has been lost for even an hour, they can go into fear mode and just run. If somebody see's any lost dog, not just Maggie, sit down, put your eyes down, so you are not looking at the animal, if you have food, toss little pieces of food in front of you."
If you spot any lost dog, it is important to first, see if you can find the post of them missing and then immediately contact the family or the number on the poster or lost dog page.
Maggies is black, beige and grey, she is 11 years old with no teeth. If you see her, do not approach as it may startle her. The family is trying desperately to bring her back home before winter. You can find more information on Maggie's Facebook page online here.
