A mediator with good experience. That's why Past President of the Federal Liberals Maria Odumodu thinks Kathleen Wynne will serve well as Ontario's Liberal leader. Wynne will be the province's first female, and the country's first openly gay premier. "I'm really pleased that she won. And I think it sends a message to, I call it, every young person that they can make it if they try hard," said Odumodu. But she hopes Wynne is not judged too harshly being Ontario's first woman premier. She said it's not a weakness, just a challenging time for change. "I believe that she is a consensus builder. She will need all that skill to manage a minority parliament and to bring everybody within the party together. Hopefully at the end of the day, everybody will come back to be members of the happy Liberal party," said Odumodu. Wynne aims to recall the provincial legislature on February 19th. It hasn't been sitting since outgoing Premier Dalton McGuinty announced his resignation in October.
