Amanda Nelson set a new course record at "That Dam Hill" race last month and was recently featured in Canadian Running magazine.
WOODSTOCK - A long distance runner from Woodstock is starting to make a name for herself and setting records along the way.
Amanda Nelson completed the annual 24 hour That Dam Hill race last month in London at Springbank Park. She set a new record in the process by completing 72 laps in 15 hours and 23 minutes.
Nelson set the course record by course record over the 24 hours, completing running 220 km. Nelson now has her sights set on the Canadian record for the 24 hour marathon run of 238 km, which is something she can do on a flat course.
Nelson has been inspiration to many in the Friendly City. Earlier this year she ran 88 miles in one day to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society of Oxford County. That race brought in over $2,500. She ran the 88 miles in honour of her grandfathers 88th birthday. You can read more about that phenomenal run online here.
Nelson was also featured recently in the Canadian Running Magazine.
