The Tillsonburg Peewee hockey team will be wearing pink to the rink this weekend, including on their stick tape and skate races, as they raise money for breast cancer research.
TILLSONBURG - The Tillsonburg Peewee hockey team is hosting a Pink at the Rink day on Sunday.
Tillsonburg Minor hockey is donating all of the gate proceeds from the day towards Breast Cancer research. Every team will be encouraged to wear pink to the rink that day and the kids will have pink tape and pink skate laces.
Head Coach of the Tillsonburg Old Timers Pee-Wee rep team John Nunn says they will be raising awareness at all of the games on Sunday from 11:30 am to 7:30 PM.
"We have reached out to the opposing teams to let them know what is going on and all the Tillsonburg teams will be decked out in pink in some shape or form and we are hoping to raise awareness as much as we can."
Each game will feature a ceremonial puck drop from someone who has been impacted by cancer. Nunn says it promises to be a fun and emotional day.
"Everyone should wear their pink in support on Sunday, we will be doing a lot of events, one of them is Chuck a Puck, buy a puck and throw it to centre ice and whoever is closest will win a prize, we will have a lot of other events and fundraisers happening throughout the day as well."
Nunn says it promises to be a fun and emotional day and they are looking forward to plenty of support from the community.
