The Ontario Government will be handing out funds to Woodstock Police and Oxford OPP. The money is being delivered through the Mobile Crisis Response Team Enhancement Grant program and enables police to utilize trained crisis workers when responding to those in need.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police and Oxford OPP are getting government funding.
The Ontario government is providing over $118,648 to the police forces, which will help them provide specialized support to people who are experiencing a mental health crisis.
In a release, Oxford MPP, Ernie Hardeman says, "Specialized support is often needed when police interact with people who are experiencing a mental health crisis,"
He adds from the same release, "This funding will support the ongoing work of the Mental Health Engagement and Response Team, a joint project that includes CMHA of Thames Valley."
