WOODSTOCK - A Woodstonian brings home hardware.
15-year-old Amber Lovell competed with her synchronized skating team at the 2024 Skate Canada Cup last week and won the silver medal.
Lovell speaks to the emotions that came with winning the medal.
"It honestly feels amazing. I've represented Ontario three times now, but this is the first time we've got a medal, so I am really proud of me and my team for all the hard work that we've done to get to this point."
Lovell is excited to win the silver, but talks about where she wants to end up.
"Well, I am hoping to move up a level to Junior and eventually maybe represent Canada at one point next year, that would be pretty cool. And just keep improving my skating and working hard."
Lovell also coaches learn to skate at the Ingersoll Skating Club and trains multiple hours a week to make sure she is at the level she needs to be for competition.
She says that in her free time, she focuses on school first, then training, which makes things a little less stressful for her.
