Wesley Heather took home gold at OFSAA in the 54 kg division. He is the first male from Woodstock to do so since his late father.
WOODSTOCK - A local high school wrestler came home a champion.
Grade 11 student, Wesley Heather competed in the 54 kg weight class at OFSAA this past Tuesday and Wednesday in Hamilton.
Heather went undefeated in the tournament but battled adversity at the beginning of the season.
"This year started off not great because I spiral fractured my right hand, so I was out of training for a while."
He went undefeated at OFSAA, and his coach Adam Schmitt couldn't have been more proud.
"I told him to take the moment in. He was pretty unselfish and watched his teammates."
The win has even more meaning behind it, as Heather became the first male OFSSA champion from Woodstock since his late father Mark Heather accomplished the same feat.
