Lisa Longworth was recently presented with the Rotary/OPP Award of Excellence in Mental Health at the OPP headquarters in Orillia.
WOODSTOCK - A woman from Woodstock has been given the Rotary/OPP Award of Excellence in Mental Health.
Lisa Longworth was presented with the honour earlier this week at the OPP headquarters in Orillia. Past Rotary Governor with Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Doug Vincent says Longworth is very deserving of this award.
“This OPP Partners in Compassion recognition, presented by Rotary, recognizes the outstanding contributions of personnel within the OPP who have demonstrated exceptional efforts to address and support those suffering from psychological injuries.”
Longworth was chosen for her exceptional efforts and the efforts by OPP staff, to inspire positive change in mental
health support for OPP Members and Communities.
Vincent explains the objective of the award.
“The objective is to recognize those who help to deal with depression and other mental disorders or illness, while removing the fear of stigma in the lives of those affected.”
First responders often deal with post traumatic stress disorder, operational stress injuries and depression because of the nature of the work they do every single day. Vincent says Longworth is an exceptional person.
"Lisa’s outstanding devotion to the OPP, bringing relief to those in psychological distress is a true testament of her
exceptional humanity as a partner in compassion.”
Longworth and her family are very active in the Woodstock community, her two teenaged sons even helped with the Rotary Fish Fry over the weekend. She was able to call into Heart FM this afternoon for an interview, where she talked about her role with the OPP. You can check it out below:
