Looking to Return to Blandford Blenheim Council

After being away from local politics for 20 years; Bryan "Bing" Hewitt is in the running to be a township councillor.

BLANDFORD BLENHEIM TOWNSHIP - A familiar face is looking to come back to Blandford Blenheim council chambers.

Bryan "Bing" Hewitt was a township councillor from 1992 to 1995. He was also the deputy mayor and an Oxford County councillor from 1995 to 1998.

He will be running for a councillor position again this fall.

"I really enjoy doing it! I like getting out, working with the people and helping them solve problems or if they have something like some minor variances they want to get passed."

Hewitt was also member of the Oxford County Land Division Committee for nine years and Committee Chair for two of those years.

Hewitt has a couple things on his to-do list if he is elected in.

"I would like to see the reserves grown. You can never have enough money, especially after this spring when we had that bad flood that wrecked some bridges here in the township."

Hewitt would also like to promote more growth in the township and address high development costs.

He was also upset to see the OPP office in Drumbo move to Ingersoll, adding the big reason they decided to switch to OPP was so they could have that local police location.
