LPRCA Issues Flood Watch

A flood watch has been issued due to the recent rainfall and the warmer temperatures melting the snow.

LPRCA - A flood watch is now in effect for the Long Point Region Conservation Authority.

The local watershed got about 25 to 30 milimetres of rain over the past 24 hours and all of the snow is also starting to melt due to the warmer temperatures.

Officials say we could see some flooding in low lying areas and in spots with poor drainage. The ground is also frozen, which will impact its ability to absorb water.

The flood watch should remain in effect until 12:00 p.m. on Monday.

Everyone is being warned to stay away from ditches and local lakes, rivers, streams, and ponds. The wateis dangerous because it's cold and fast-moving.
