Nobody was seriously injured after a collision involving two transport trucks and pickup.
TAVISTOCK - A truck driver has been charged with careless driving after a crash between two transports and a pickup truck on Perth Line 26 just West of Tavistock.
Perth County OPP were called to the scene on Friday morning. Nobody was seriously injured in the crash, although one of the drivers did go to the hospital with minor injuries. Police say the crash happened when a Mack truck carrying soya beans crossed over into the west bound lane of Perth Line 26 and hit a full sized cement tanker trailer. After the crash the Freightliner entered the north ditch and the driver of a Chevy truck trailing the transport had to run off the road to avoid a collision.
The 34 year old driver of the east bound tractor trailer was charged with careless driving. Both trucks were severely damaged.
The Ontario Ministry of Environment was contacted due to rupturing of a fuel tank and a subsequent diesel fuel spill. A crane was utilized to remove the tractor trailer from the field. Perth Line 26 was closed to traffic from 6 a.m. until 11:40 a.m. allowing for the safe removal and clean-up of debris and vehicles from the scene.
