Local MP Dave MacKenzie is reminding local organizations to apply for government funding for seniors' programs
Our local MP is reminding local organizations about funding available through two new Horizons for Seniors Programs.
The application process started on May 29th and you can submit your proposal up until July 10th. MP for Oxford County Dave MacKenzie says the proposals can be submitted by private groups, individuals or even local municipalities. "It could be the Oxford County because they do things for seniors too - they have programs. It could be city of Woodstock, Town of Ingersoll, Town of Tillsonburg, or the Township or the County. The only exceptions are other levels of government like the Ontario government, but not municipal governments."
MacKenzie says the Government is looking for proposals that will help to reduce social isolation among seniors. Funding will be available to communities and organizations for up to $25 000 for projects that will help empower seniors to share their knowledge, skills and experience with others and support communities by increasing their capacity to address local issues.
