INGERSOLL - Two Ontario cabinet ministers will be in Ingersoll on Thursday and are expected to announce their joint effort to stop the proposed landfill from Walker Environmental Group.

Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, Jeff Yurek will be at the gazebo in downtown Ingersoll on Thursday morning at 9:30 am. He will be joined by local MPP and Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ernie Hardeman. It is expected they will announce the implementation of Bill 197 which contains measurements to allow local communities to say no to landfills. The Bill received a second reading at Queens Park on Tuesday.

The Oxford People Against the Landfill are inviting members, volunteers and allies to attend the announcement.

They will have COVID-19 prevention measures in place if you do attend. They ask you to only come with members of your family, circle or bubble and keep 2 metres apart from anyone not in your circle. Face coverings are strongly encouraged and they will have face masks at the site that will be available to anyone for free to use at the event. OPAL does ask that you make sure to dispose of your mask properly and do not litter the street or sidewalk afterwards.

The announcement is expected to happen this Thursday July 16th at the gazebo in downtown Ingersoll from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
