Oxford County communities are getting ready for The Great Ride 'n Stride for the Canadian Cancer Society.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Great Ride 'n Stride is coming back to four Oxford County communities.
The annual fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford will take place in Tillsonburg, Plattsville, and Norwich at the end of this month. The 49th Ride and Stride is set to take place in Thamesford on June 11th.
Manager Janis Cunningham encourages participants to help raise money for the cause.
"There is no registration fee for the event. You can simply pick up a registration form or go online to greatride.ca and select which community you want to attend the event at. You can raise funds online if you'd like; there is no minimum required but it would be great if you were to support the Canadian Cancer Society, the research that we fund and the services that are provided in Oxford County."
Those who participate can choose to walk, run or jog. They can also choose to show off their wheels by riding a bike or rollerblading.
Cunningham tells Heart FM absolutely anyone can sign up.
"We certainly encourage families, we encourage corporate teams to come out, any kind of groups of people, or come out on your own."
The Great Ride 'n Stride fundraisers have raised over $1.5 million for the Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford since they first began in 1969. This year Cunningham hopes all four events will bring in a combined total of $20,000.
