For the 2nd time Mayor Trevor Britch has donated his hair for patients suffering from cancer
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's Mayor just finished his second cut for cancer.
Community Fundraiser Specialist with Oxford County Canadian Cancer Society Liz Wismer Van-Meer says its great to see the mayor step up to the plate for another haircut for a good cause. "As soon as he finished that haircut he started growing it out again. And almost two years later here he is with a fresh new look and we're still collecting funds so you can go online to make those donations, you can also stop by our office in Woodstock."
The Mayor's original fundraising goal is $3 000 dollars, but there is no official tally so far. Wismer Van-Meer says while the hair goes to create a wig for someone who needs one, some of the money will help support initiatives in our area as well. "And the dollars that are raised of course continue to go to our cancer research, our mission of eradicating cancer. But it also goes towards enhancing the quality of life. So people here in Oxford County that have cancer that can't get to their appointments, we can provide transportation to them; maybe they just need someone to talk to so we have peer support groups for them. So there's many other aspects that locally support those people living with cancer.
Many people came out to donate some money, cut a lock of hair, and support the good cause.
