The Curl for Safety Charity Bonspiel raised a total of $2,900 last weekend and the PlayStation 5 raffle raised an additional $4,400.
WOODSTOCK - The Curl for Safety Charity Bonspiel was a huge success this year.
Mazur Safety Inc President Wes Mazur tells us how much they were able to raise at the Woodstock Curling Centre last Saturday.
"I am happy to say that the total proceeds from the day were $2,900, which is wonderful! That is all above cost and that is cash going straight to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County."
He says they had 64 curlers competing in the sold out event, plus lots of great volunteers who helped make the day possible.
Woodstock's very own Rachel Strybosch was there with her Team Holly Duncan teammate Tess Guyatt to help the cause. Those competing in the event could donate to have the curling pros play for them. Mazur says this raised over $300 alone.
Mazur says an additional $4,400 was raised through the PlayStation 5 raffle, which means a total of $7,300 will be going to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County. He explains why Mazur Safety Inc chose the local charity as this year's recipient.
"As we evolve and mature, we realize that safety includes wellbeing and wellbeing is a huge part of what Big Brothers Big Sisters does here in Oxford County. So it was an easy fit!"
Mazur Safety Inc is will be hosting Swing for Safety this summer and we can expect more details on that event coming in the next few months.
