Justin Konietzny moved to Tillsonburg a few months ago and he would like to start up a 100 Men Who Care club in his new hometown.
TILLSONBURG - A former member of a Norfolk County club is looking to bring its philanthropy to Tillsonburg.
100 Men Who Care is a club where citizens come together to decide on a charity to collectively donate to.
Justin Konietzny recently relocated to Tillsonburg in August from Delhi, and he has just started to build the club in Oxford County.
He says that the club has quarterly meetings where the group nominates a charity or a cause in the local community. From those nominations, three are chosen to give a presentation to the club. Following that, there's a vote on the winning charity.
Konietzny explains what happens after a charity or organization is selected.
"Each member then writes a $100 cheque and we pool that together to make a significant donation to that charity. We meet four times a year, so it's basically a $400 commitment."
All of the proceeds go back into the community. Konietzny says it's also a great opportunity to network and socialize after the meetings are over while making a difference in the community. He shares what inspired him to start the club in his new hometown.
"I just saw how much of a positive impact it can have in Norfolk, and I know there's a lot of great organizations in the Oxford and Tillsonburg areas that could definitely use our support."
The club is currently in the process of growing its membership, and Konietzny says they're hoping to have their first meeting in January.
